Stratford-upon-Avon, set in the beautiful countryside of Warwickshire. Birthplace of William Shakespeare. The Greenway

The Cotswolds 

Stratford is ideally situated to visit the Cotswolds, Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and many more attractions.

 

The town is a popular tourist destination for visitors from all over the world, many of whom come to see the birthplace of Williams Shakespeare. The easiest way to visit all major attractions connected with Williams Shakespeare is to take the open top bus ride. You can get on and off as you take in all the attractions.  

 

Park and Ride 

Stratford has its own Park and Ride, situated on the north of the town or if you are travelling by train, there are railway connection in Stratford or Warwick Parkway for trains from London. In the centre of Stratford there is a bus station. And for those wishing to take a little exercise, the Leisure Centre is also situation in the centre by the bus station. Beside the river Avon, there is additional parking and a welcome sign for any parent, a well equipped play area, suitable for young children with sand and wet plays areas and also an additional area for older children. A small paddling pool is available during the summer months.  

 

Entertainment on the Banks of the Avon 

On Sunday afternoons in the summer months you can sit beside the river and enjoy music being played by musicians on the Band Stand.  Directly outside the Royal Shakespeare Theatre are the Bancroft Gardens, where in summer tourists are enttertained by street performers of all types. 

 

Messing About on the River 

If water is your passion, enjoy a boat ride up the river or for the strenuous, hire a rowing boat and take a leisurely ride where the tide takes you.  

 

If you enjoy the Theatre, walking, cycling, fishing, shopping, picnicking or just sitting watching the swans, ducks and boats go by, Stratford-upon-Avon is the place for you.
